Default I've had really erratic results with it so far...

...Sometimes it appears to be in limp mode, peak around 7psi, but it can't be bona fide limp mode because without turning the car off it will go back to normal sometimes. Other times I get around 10-12psi peak, other times it goes up to around 16, other times up to like 27/28, as it's supposed to. I dunno what the hell's up. Any ideas?

Default some thoughts here:

1) check your bpv vaccum hose and make sure its not kinked or ripped. if the bpv does not actuate, it can cause it to buck and not through a CEL. While your down there check the hose off the turbo for any rips.

2) if you software is not setup for a FMIC it can cause limp mode, but it will generally happen when you are WOT at the topend of the RPMS. It will also cause a CEL, negative deviation code.

3) to answer you question up top, I have actually assisted in the install of a traditional FMIC and it did not have bulges that i can recall, everything looked fine. I also have a the Z-flow on a 2000 A4 and piping is similiar. You do have to massage a little plastic on the bumper and possibly the grill covers.

Default Interesting, you think running 27psi could have cracked a hose or something?

But you know, it will still get 27psi from time to time, don't you think it would be running consistently lower boost if there were a leak? And the thing is, the software *is* for FMIC... I'm going to check and clear codes maybe tomorrow though, see if I can figure anything out.

Thanks.

Default I'm running the J31

and I hit 27-28lbs in the midrange. I don't think that it will rip the hose, but its possible that the vaccum hose could have gotten damaged during install or was frayed. I changed all my vac. hoses when i did the fmic just because i noticed that the hoses looked dryed out and did not flex. My first inspection would be the vac. hose to the bpv, mainly because you mentioned that you car is bucking and no perm. CEL. once you get these little issued ironed out its all worth it.
