Default Got parts for timing belt.... am I missing something?

Ok, I have the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and the 'tensioner roller'... I thought there was a tensioner belt of some sort, but basically I have no idea what I'm talking about. So are the timing belt and tensioner roller the 2 main things?

And actually I just looked up ecstuning, and looked up the timing belt kit... included is the OEM Tensioner... so I guess I am missing that...

attached is a picture. I DON'T have the item on the left... I'm guessing that's the tensioner. And that is what has to be replaced as well?

Argh, why am I so dumb

Default Yeah...you want to replace the tensioner too...

that's usually what starts to fail and causes the timing belt to prematurely wear, or skip.

Default I grew up here...and never left...

Switched from an A4 to an S4 just over a year ago. Couple reasons why you find my trolling over here more often than not:
1. Different breed "over there". They dissect everything...almost like velociraptors. When they are done, they have left a wake of distruction in their paths.
2. I'm not modding my S4 anymore. All the discussion over there revolves around Stage III tuning...and most of the discussion is not fact finding, but insult based (see #1).
3. The bulk of my knowledge lies with the A4, so I can help more people on this forum.
4. I know a lot of the guys on this forum...either personally, or via my interactions with them on this forum over 3+ years.
5. As the S4 ages, and I start running into engine (and other) issues, I'll probably post more often over there, but for now, she's purring like a kitten.

:-)

Default Where did you get your parts from?

All TB kits have the three parts shown in the ECS pic.
There is also another roller that is highly recommended to replace also that is not included in the kits.

Timing Belt Roller
