got pulled over Monday night...
I was driving in the downtown district, not going anywhere really, just out enjoying the nice weather...it was about 7pm, plenty of daylight left. A police cruiser was about 100 yards ahead of me. Well aware of this and the 35mph speed limit, I thought nothing of it. The cop pulls off to the side, although there really isn't anywhere to go so she's partially blocking my lane. Not sure what to do, I'm stopped in the middle of the right-hand lane...after about 5 seconds I figure I better move my *** so I slowly creep around the cop and proceed to turn right onto 4th Street (turn signal in effect). She turns back onto the road behind me and turns in my direction. NFW I'm thinking. Sure enough she hits the blue lights and I can't believe it. My friend Bill can't believe it either. I wait for the officer to approach with both hands high on the steering wheel (I got yelled at for not doing that long time ago) and I look up to see a black woman in her mid 30s. The conversation went like this:
"What's the problem?"
"I pulled you over because of your headlights....you got strobes in there, son?" <walking to the front of my car>
"Uhh, no..."
"Well they sure looked blue to me, and they was flashin' and all that in my rearview mirror"
At this point I'm nearly LMFAO but I figure I should maintain my composure or risk her wrath.
"Well ma'am they're stock xenon headlamps..."
"'ZEEENAWWNS'....? What are them?"
"They're pretty popular headlamps on BMW/Mercedes/Audi vehicles these days...I can assure you I have no strobes in this thing.." <turning headlights off and back on, twitching the high beams>
"Hmmm....I ain't never heard o'them things...y'all have a good night..."
I guess the broken downtown pavement combined with my suspension made for a good show in her mirror. She could have nailed me for not having parking lights (they're directed to my city lights...ambers are for turn signal only) but that's another issue =)

FWIW
ive been pulled over a few times at night when i had no violation of any real merit (i usually go 5 over like everyone else).
Usually the officers want to see if the car is stolen, as it seems that its suspicious for a nice car to be out at night.
Really cool if you ask me that she was gonna ticket a ricer.
Cheers,
Sameer

She might have been referring to the E-codes lenses causing that funky lighting...
Drives me nuts when I'm driving in front of the other Audi with E-codes...looks like the driver is flashing the high beams, then you get this purple/blue effect when cornering.

yeah I knew what was causing it...
I just thought it couldn't be mistaken as strobes since it varies with the road surface and doesn't follow any kind of timed pattern. Still funny though that she didn't know WTF xenon/HIDs were.

well I'm just thankful she was cool about it and laughed it off...
she could have started giving me a hard time; some cops don't take basic explanation to well because SURELY this is something they would have known beforehand.
