I've got the droopy headliner syndrome.....That is very annoying on a 6 year old car, if it was 9 years old, i would be ok with it, but a headliner should last more than 6 years.
The headliner new is around $515 I believe....tough call, I will probably do a new OEM one. Actually the headliner show also told me that they will take $100 off if I remove the headliner and drop it off for them to do. That I may consider doing.
While I am at it I am going to have my sunroof guides replaced. They work fine, but since I am removing the headliner, I should do it while it is convenient and easy to access.
If i go with a new one, i'll "experiment" on the old one and see how I do with a DIY headliner repair.

Did they do the foam backing like OEM, or did they dump the foam and just glue it directly to the headliner panel?

Wouldn't they just use a spray on adhesive? As long as you are patient and go easy on the glue I bet it wouldn't be too hard.

The hardest part is taking it out w/o breaking trim parts. The recovering takes less than 30 minutes.

once the headliner is removed, you have to pull off the old fabric and scrape the old foam off. nasty mess. I found that a stiff bristle brush works best.
Call around to see how much they want to just recover the headliner if you bring it to them, you might be surprised.
