what is the difference between 96-99 and 2000+? i have a 2001, wondering if it would be any different if sanded and painted. i know the 98 has those funny circle audi symbols, don't see them on this, also does the turn signal look different in the picture? Also, probably has those metal triangles in the corner for the two-piece headlights i could just clip those i think though.
guy is selling it over on vwvortex for $40, seems like i could use it on my car since my brother rear-ended me there. would have to paint it to match the silver of course. How hard is it to match the metallic without painting the whole car/side of car?

Then again, when someone mentions tin snips, I guess perfection is far from the goal? So yes, it'll fit with the help of your tin snips.
Matching metallic paint is nearly impossible. You can get it close...typically to fool the eye, most body shops would blend into the surrounding paint so it's much harder to pick out the area that was repainted.
