Guys with Boxster calipers (BIRA or equivalent kit) what kind of brake lines do you use?
I ordered my brake kit from ECS tuning, and it should arrive this week. They include stainless steel lines for the front brakes -- and the reason that they gave is that Porsche uses different fittings than Audi, so the lines have to be custom made with different fittings on each end.
With all the horror stories I've read on this board regarding SS brake lines, I am quite reluctant to use them on my car. Can anyone tell me IF I can get rubber lines for my car, and where? Or if there is a particular SS brake line that is better than others, which has the appropriate fittings on each end, I'd like to know that too.
Thanks!

The brake lines don't actually hook directly to the caliper, IIRC...
...they connect to a small, hard line and THAT piece connects to the caliper. See #10 in the pic.
The lines that came with my kit fit both front and rear, but I can't remember the brand.

So which color did u choose? I thought the kit comes w/ SS line?
I've been thinking about upgrading to Porsche brakes. I was gonna go for red, but not sure if they'd look good on a Pelican blue. Can u keep us updated after the installation is done? btw, how much was the whole kit? And do they really fit 16" wheels? Cos I have stock 16" 5-spoke sport wheels.
Thanx in advance.

Erik

I decided on the standard black...
They *should* fit under certain 16" wheels. I bought Ronal R28s just for this purpose (I like the look of my OEM 7-spoke sport wheels, and the R28 is very similar.)
As far as brake lines, the kit does indeed come with SS lines. I would just really prefer rubber lines instead of SS. And I am wondering if that is possible.

Dave... question for you...
Correct me if I am wrong here, but didn't you have the Boxster calipers/A8 rotors before you upgraded to the Stoptechs? Where did you get your kit? Through BIRA?
What kind of lines did you use? SS or rubber?
And if the brake lines don't hook directly to the caliper, how does the fluid get into the caliper? Somewhere there has to be a fitting for the brake fluid to enter the caliper, no?
Thanks,
P.
