I have a set of H&R coilovers on my 01 avant, the car is lowered about 2.5" in the rear. Lately I've noticed a squeaking sound coming from one of them (while going over bumps or just putting weight on that corner of the car).

The coilovers are less than 2 years old and have about 40K miles on them - most of the miles have been easy highway driving..

So my question, is the spring starting to go on the coilover, or do I just need to lube something up in there? Thanks!

Are you positive its the coil over and not a bushing in the rear suspension?

Rubber bushings when they dry up tend to get squeaky.

How many miles on the coilovers?

Coilovers have about 20K miles on them, most of the miles are easy highway miles.
The squeaking sounds more like the spring to me because its more of a metal sound, but I'll take a look at the bushing. Thanks for the tip

My rears did this as well.. Try turning the helper spring a bit (should turn by hand with no load on suspension).
