Harbor freight has a 450lb tranny jack for 50 bucks; how heavy is the 5-spd manual (01a?)

Default RMy Mitsubishi SUV tranny weighed 215lbs with fluid drained...

That includes the transfer case. It's almost 4 ft long.

The A4 is probably a little over half that weight.

Good thing my creeper didn't break down with me and the tranny on me :P Need to get a hoist.

Default Good luck . .hope it is only the slave.

I had something like 16" from the floor to the pinch welds. That bell housing is pretty wide.
I was doing it all alone so I had to leave the tranny on the jack until I could stand over it to lift it off. I couldn't put the 6 speed tranny on the jack by myself under the car either so tehre was little option. I was able to tilt the bell housing down to get maximum clearance but like I said, it was barely enough to clear.

Default I used that jack to pull my 2.8 trans.

Worked fine. If the car is jacked up high enough, the trans can be rolled out the front.
