Default hard starting,.. exhaust cloud... stink... 30v 2.8

occasionally (after work, usually) my car starts VERY hard. it turns over for about 4-5 seconds, and i have to open the throttle to get it to start, even then, it slowly stumbles to life. this happens maybe 1 out of 4 times i try to start the car.
when it does start, it puts out a huge cloud of white exhaust, and smells like it runs crazy rich for about a minute or so.
coolant and oil are both clean. once it happened and the CEL came on, but it turned itself off and hasn't been on since.
i'm confused.
i read from some that it could be a coolant temp sensor (the one for my instrument cluster is dead, anyway). it also started when it started to get cold.
i also suspect it could be o2 sensors or maf sensor.
any ideas?

It's either spark, air, or fuel. Take your pick.

Default Trade it in for a Honda!!!

Hahaaa J/K I'd say either CT sensor or FPR.

Defntly sounds like a flooding issue.
