I side stepped the clutch at over 4000. It chipred briefly, then rocketed along.
The funny thing is, when the A4 came out with that 12v motor, what an awesome car that was, compared to the 5 cylinder cars. 172hp was a boat load to us back then!!! You could never get a 10v or 20v 90 to chirp, unless you side step at rev limit.

go of the clutch pedal. Try not to step on the clutch hard and let it off harder. You will eventually wear the shock springs on the clutch disc off and premature clutch failure will result. Try to let the clutch off slower and smoother, let the clutch disc bite.
