if so, are there any advantages with this kit over just a standard diverter valve? is it worth the extra 100 just for the BOV sound or should i just go with a DV? is there a difference in power? has anyone heard anything?

If you use a BOV for the "sound", that sound is it dumping metered air into the atmosphere. With that, your car will run rich, and you will burn out your cat.

If you want the noise just get an open element air filter but make sure that it has great heatsheilding otherwise you lose HP and can overheat the ICM if your nDBW
