Has anyone ever just replaced the resonater with a performance muffler?

Has anyone ever just replaced the resonater with a performance muffler?
Not complete exhaust systems, just repacement of the resonater with somthing less restrictive, and makes the exhaust sound good. If so, please tell me which muffler, price and where you bought it. Thanks.

Stock Exhaust---downpipe--->resonater--->Muffler........
I simply removed my resonator, but now my exhaust is too loud, so i wanted to add another muffler, maybe im using the wrong terminology.
