And I used ebay to check the market value, it worked very well in my case as I had a show truck, and it let the insurance company know that the "Book Value" wasn't enough.
However, I don't think Ebay is worth it unless you're selling a car worth under $5000, or you just want to get rid of a car period.
I would say most ebay sales are 10 to 20% less then if you sold them locally, and plus ebay charges two limbs

I bought my A4 on ebay about a month and a half ago. I got a good deal, but i don't think the seller feels the same way. I got a 96 A4 w/ 78k for $10G. I was pretty happy with my deal (definatly a step up from my saturn). But you can always watch the auction of similar cars and see what the close at. My friend sold a jeep for 4G more than he could get for it locally

I sold a Saab 900 convertable that I restored and it worked out well. The people drove 5 hrs to pick it up. No problems. I think ebay is good for rare, odd, high-miles, etc. Seems like Audi's go too cheap (for a seller). My $.02
