Default has anyone ever used a KWP2000 Flasher Plus to modify/program/read their ecu?

supposedly you can program it through the OBDII port with this cable. claims to be compatible with ME7x (boot mode), so should work for our cars. we are ME7.5?

any idea what boot mode is?

Default only S4s are ME7 i believe, maybe 2001 AWM are also ME7

ATW is ME5.x ...and early AEBs are ME3.x

correspondingly the file size of each Bin gets larger...as the program/engine gets more complicated.

Default hmm

according to this page the awm, aeb, and atw use a Bosch ME7.5 system.

wikipedia is known to be wrong though.

Default nope.

the ME version is hardcoded into the BIN files for each ECU.

Ive personally writting software which pulls the identification string out of the software code.

i know ive seen "ME3.x" and "ME7.x" pulled directly from the code.

Default sweet, but the 2001s are ME7x, and i hear the 018M and 018CH are flash programmable.

i think that cable is a hit.

Default for instance

here is the full id string of an ECU, pulled from the code(some of it should look familliar):
D048D0907557P 1.8L R4/5VT MOTR D040261204258103735912655/1/M5.92/05/400201/DAMOS3A8/3A802-S/3A80202-S/230498/

this is from a "8D0 907 557P" ecu for 99.5 A4 1.8t

note this part of the string, im assuming this is the Motronic version:
<i>03735912655/1/</i><b>M5.92</b><i>/05/400201</i>

here's a screen shot of the software i wrote:

Default if any tuners offer a flash program option for a certain model year, its flash programmable :)

so 2001 would be as far as i know.
