Default Has anyone had wet braking problems with slotted rotors and Mintex pads

Trying to determine if these make a difference together. After our brake party Sunday only the car with cross-drilled rotors had the wet braking issue.

Default I think it's my pads and not the rotors...

The water clears more quickly from the x-drilled rotors, than from the stock ones. I'm going to replace the Rofren pads with Mintex (fronts only) and see what happens. BTW - I never had the wet braking problem, until I switched to Rofren pads (on stock rotors).

Default Interesting data Craig

I wonder if there are wet braking problems with Mintex pads out there? Maybe the solution is both the Mintex with some combination of crossdrilled and or slotted rotors

Yep. Just put on ATE discs and Mintex all around. Still sucks in this rain today.

I still think the ultimate solution is the front shields.

Default Tend to agree, partially

The Raybestos pads were worse than the OE ones.

My personal opinion is like CraigB, problem is lack of GOOD splash shields.

Default I guess I will find out on my ATE/Mintex...

after they wear down some. I didn't notice once on the snowy/rainy trip from FTC to Denver Sunday any wet braking issues. Maybe later this Spring/Summer here when we get the downpours I'll find out if I still have the problems on my 99.5 like I did last Summer.

I do notice however that a normal trip to work does not produce the accumulation of brakedust that I normally get. Woohooo!

Craig, why just change the front pads instead of all of them?

Default Ray - I agree that it makes sense about shields but then I look at motor bikes with the rotors

fully exposed. How do they not get the wet induced lag?

Default Here's why...

1) 70+% of stopping power comes from the front brakes, and

2) the rears already have full splash shields already.

How do you like my new signature? 8^)<p><a href="http://www.users.uswest.net/~craiger/a4main.htm">
