Default Well.... Sorta of.....

I have a 99.5 1.8t. There is absolutely no difference in the front door section of a 99.5 vs. 2000. I have Boston Accoustic 5.25" speakers in the original speaker location. This is done with an adapter plate and some minor interior (nothing visible) cutting. Tons of people have added 5.25" speakers to their A4's.

Default There may be a metal brace in the way on 2000 models!!

My installer chose not to modify his own S4 for several reasons. One is that drop in replacements are no longer possible. According to Alex on the audio forum, he had to cut a metal brace to install 5.25" components in the doors.

I've given my permission to my installer to do what is neccesary behind the door panels to get my 5.25" components installed. My appt. is on the 10th. E-mail me after that if anyone wants more details. I'm going to ask him to take a few pix of the problem door panels.

Default Like i said, there is minor cutting........

Yes, a little plastic/metal has to be cut, but, nothing drastic. Bring your installation to someone who has experience with Audi's and you'll have no problem. Tell us where you're located and someone will recommend a good installer.

Default Just Tried

Hey!

I just tried to place some 5.25" speakers in my doors using the MBQuart adapters, but part of the door (metal) will have to be cut.

I'm thinking about just going with a better pair of 4" speakers.

What a drag!
