Has anyone replaced their fuel desender? (Fuel sensor in gas tank)

My fuel guage isn't reading correctly. A mechanic did a diagnositic test and said the senor in my fuel tank was broken. Has anyone replaced this before? TIA

How do you remove the cap to the gas tank from the trunk?

I purchased the new desending unit for the tank..but hacing trouble getting in the tank

special tool to loosen that big plastic cover
