Default the front lowers, yes

but it was loose already. one side is still frozen in place
my firkin VW machanic just hammered it out one time (on a lift)

Default Yeah, it seems that the rears require the tool, but my left front is really stuck...

I was bending my 2 arm puller pretty good, as it cant' get a good angle on it... I guess I'll pony up the $100 for the tool..

Default same here - left front is stuck. do you think a standard tie rod puller might work?

Default It might, but the problem is you really can't get a square puler on there.. My 2 arm puller didn't..

even budge it, and I was afraid of breaking it..

Something LIKE this, is what the factory tool looks like..
