I'm considering scrapping my current gauge in favor of a more accurate gauge....

Statically, they should be good enough. Dynamically, you can't beat electronic monitoring...
The long lines and restrictors required on mechanical boost gauges introduces pressure drops and delays from the manifold to the gauge.
The boost you would be seeing on fast rpm fluctuations is not the true pressure you are measuring at the manifold at that point in time. Boost gauges that use restrictors will display a higher boost on higher rpms, when the rpms climb fast because the boost stored in the vacuum hose past the restrictor is still the higher pressure produced by the turbo spiking at lower rpms
At higher gears, when rpms build slower and the turbo approaches its max CFM output, then your mechanical gauge may be showing accurate readings.
Electrical is more accurate as long as you have it's map sensor mounted as short as possible to the manifold.
