It drives me nuts and the problem wasnt there before the car was lowered. I would like to locate the noisy components and lube them some how.

Ok I dunno how many times this story needs to be told.
I think the issue most of the time comes about due to the improper installation of the aftermarket suspension. The VAST majority of installers do no bother to tighten the following bolts with the car SITTING ON THE GROUND ONLY.
Front Suspension...
Lower shock clevis to lower control arm...must be done on the ground bearing the weight of the car.
Rear Suspension...
Upper Control Arm to Upright...must be done on the ground.
Lower Shock Eye to Lower Control Arm...must be done on the ground.
The reason being this car as do many other cars use a bonded rubber bushing which is pressed into the various suspension components. They are NOT free to rotate and when you torque down on them with the suspension at droop they're subjected to excessive torque when the car is set back down on those bushings. I could imagine they might slip now and again making a creek noise...or they've simply torn and are making nasty noises. Ohh and they look like they're a bit of a bitch to replace :-(

how do you access the bolts in question, isn't the tire/wheel in the way?
can you just jack the control arm up with the wheel off and the car on stands to approximate ride height and then tighten them?

Yes you jack up the arm and measure from the hub to fender you can get in the ballpark, which is close enuf then snug it up and let it all down.
I use a little bottle jack, cost me all of $10 at Pep Boys.
