Default Don P. had a write up on his AudiZone site, but......

....it's not there anymore and I can't find it in AudiWorld's tech section (the two web sites have merged).

Here was the old URL:

Default Happened to me twice....

The there are two pumps for the washing system. One pump for the windshield and one for the head lights. There are two fluid reservoirs, but they are both filled from the washer fluid opening.

What has happened is the pump for the headlights has failed/or split. Had it fixed both times under warranty, they simply replaced the pump. The other pump for the windshield remains operational the whole time.

It is a warranty repair if you are still in warranty.

Default I have done it....

All you do is cut one of the wires going to the headlight pump and splice back to the dash 2 wires to s SPST (single pole single throw) rocker switch that you insert into one of the blank switch positions on the dash. This method only arms the switch to work or not work with the original intent with the headlights on and the windshield being sprayed. You could wire up the washer to spray independantly from the windshield sray system when you flip the switch on, but it's a more difficult wire job.

The real quick way to fix the headlight washers is to pull one of the wires off the washer pump. I agree that is probably the best way as I haven't used the in dash switch more than 3 times to wash the headlights in the 2 years that I rewired them.

I did this mainly to keep the hood cleaner!
