Default Headlights "shorting" out

Hello all. I have a problem with my headlight "switch". When I push the lever up the lights do NOT come on any more. I have to push the lever up then forward really hard to get the lights to come on. After a while they will stay on, but it's obviously very frustrating. Has anyone had a similar problem? I noticed that the stalk has the cruise control lever attached. Do I need to replace this whole unit? Will this fix my cruise as well (the electrical contact cleaner fix lasted...oh a couple days)? Thanks guys...and gals, if any.

Default Either replace the switch or take it apart and clean the contact points.

Common problem.

Default I wish we had a FAQ.

That would be great.

The headlight switch and the turn signal stalk are one unit - you'll have to replace them both. Since the cruise control lever is on the turn signal stalk, this means you're going to replace that as well.

Conclusion: If the fault is with the switch in both cases, replacing the stalk will fix them all.
