Hearing a click/knock when I let off the gas after hard acceleration. Any ideas?

Hearing a click/knock when I let off the gas after hard acceleration. Any ideas?
It sounds like it's coming from the center of the car. I sometimes get the sound when I turn off the engine. It sounds like something is locking into place. TIA.
