So ALL 2001 A4 1.8T's have heated mirrors that come on with the rear defogger, even w/o cold weather package? Or is that a farce.
I know I've got to have something in my mirror because it defogs awefully quick when I click on the rear defogger (unlike the stinkin rear window)
In any event, my passenger side rear view mirror doesn't defog worth squat, but the driver side does just fine. Is only one of these puppies heated or is one of my broke?

Both of the mirrors are heated in my '98.5, but I DO have the cold weather package. For what it's worth, both mirror glasses have been replaced once because the heaters broke, and the passenger side has already failed again (in fact it broke at the end of last winter - driver side is still going strong).
Apparently these have been known to fail in the earlier cars ('96 excepted) because in those years the mirrors were powered all the time (but below 50F I believe - the heaters in the mirror glass have thermostats in them). The '96 had them wired with the rear defroster. It would be nice to see they had gone back to that design, although it appears one of yours may have already failed. Mine seem to last about 1 to 1-1/2 years.
