Default Heater smells like gas-not coolant...

also doesn't get very warm. I've seen a few write ups and one mentions that if it smells like coolant, then the core is probably bad and in need of replacement. Maybe it is coolant but to me it smells like gas. Any suggestions? Just try flushing? If so does anyone have pics of doing this?

If it smells like gas its probably an odor being sucked in thru the pollen filter

Where is that located and would that affect the temp? By the way it does take FOREVER for my temp to get up. I warm it up in the morning for 15-20mins before work, and it's driven almost another 1/2 hr before it ALMOST gets up to normal running temp. Thermostat?

Default A few things...

First, you shouldn't warm your car up for 15-20 minutes, its bad. If you really want to, a few minutes is ok but ideally you should hop in and drive away (slowly) after a few seconds.

It does sound like the thermostat. I noticed when the car runs cold, it stinks more, because it runs richer when its cold.

But when I just start it up and go after a few minutes, it bogs. While accelerating it's like the power cuts out and comes right back, but never does this when I let it warm up for a longer time. I also thought that bringing the oil temp up to a warmer temp would help prevent "corking" in the turbo?..

Default First you need to change your thermostat

Happen to me. Also, if you gonna make the trip to the dealership, why not pick up a temp sensor too. It cost $17 bucks, and replace that.

About you smelling gas.....You may wanna check out the "check valve" thats located on top of the air box, near the fire wall. I replaced mine and from the outside...it looked like it was crumbling like a cookie. If that check valve leaks, you gonna have gas odor in the cab.
