Default heating + A/C: flap motors, control unit

Hi,

I have took apart the whole dash in my Audi A4 (B5, 1995, 1.6l) in order to replace the evaporator.

I thought that as long as it's all open I would check what else should be replaced.
A few quesitons:
1) How can I test that all the flap motors are working (without the use of the control unit)?
2) A few of the blinds inside the HVAC box have large wound holes. Shouldn't they be totally covered and be hermetic? Could it be that the covering foam has been eaten out? If so, should I recover them?
3) What other things should I check before I put it all together?

Thanks,
Max

A bit more details for the questions.
What I need to do is to test all flap motors without VAG-COM (somehow connect 12V to each of them).
Does anyone know how to test the flap motors this way?

I am running out of time, since I have to assemble the HVAC box and the dash this weekend.
Need help desperately.

Thanks

they're probably all servo motors and only require a few volts, not sure there's a good way to test. there shouldn't be any holes for air to escape from, find a way to seal whatever is open that shouldn't be.
