Default Heishman Audi - Alexandria VA

I notice it seems like a lot of people on this board are from the D.C. area. Has anyone made an A4 purchase through Heishman? If so, what kinds of price or percent over invoice did you get? Pros and cons of the dealership in general?
Thanks in advance
Jim

I've heard good things about the dealer in general, but didn't manage to negotiate a decent price. My friend had to pay sticker for his S4 there. My deal was the following, but I may go back to negotiate a better price since I'm not so happy at the moment about it.
1.8T - Silver Metallic
Quattro
Sport
Xenon
Bose
CD Changer

MSRP with freight: 29,740
I'm paying 29K even... about 10 percent over
invoice.
--

Default I've never used them. I bought mine from Rockville Porsche/Audi, but...

I believe many people on this board have mentioned something about their service being attrociously bad and them having a real bad attitude in general.

Default Whoa, there, Raj... Quite the opposite.

If you search the archives you will find just the opposite, I believe.

I've bought 2 A4s there and had my old one serviced there. For a 2.8 Avant Q, about 5% over invoice. Very painless transaction.

Service dept. is very busy, but treated me very well w/ my old Avant for 2 yrs. before it was totalled (not by them).

You should definitely be able to do better than that. I have been negotiating for a 1.8T with quattro, conv, sport, bose, & xenon. Realize that I as well as you, definitely have a special order, that won't be in till late October. The current offer that they have given me is $28822. I figured invoice on this car to be $27264, so that puts me at about 5.7% over invoice. I am aiming for $1000 to 1100 over invoice.
I have also been talking to Nick Merenyi at Valley Motors in Maryland. I told him that I did not want to pay more than $1000 over invoice for a 4 month wait on a car that just fax and wash. He said that they usually don't sell them for less than 1500 over invoice but that there are exceptions. He told me that if I came in, and wasn't just hypothetically pricing over the phone, then he could probably work something along the lines of what I am looking for. If you are serious about buying something soon and might be interested in negotiating cars together e-mail me. I figure if a salesman can get two commissions instead of one he can probably be more flexible. mccrofton@hotmail.com

Default Totally wrong. Unless you mean that they are negative towards warranty-voiding modifications

in which case, that is true. They are not in the position of putting themselves at risk by trying to "fudge" a warranty repair for a car with a modification (brake pads, chips, etc).

But they drop big $$ for our QCUSA chapter, are all QCUSA enthusiasts and members, and all of their salespeople, service people and the owners are racing enthusiasts.

Their service is very good, only had one problem in the 3+ years I used them for service.

Default A bit of insight on HBL...

I just purchased a 00 1.8TQM from HBL - because they had the car that I wanted and I needed a car right away. My sales experience was less than satisfactory mostly due to my experience when I was in the finance office and when they delivered my car. They tried to push me (until I raised my voice and threatened to walk out) on a flex financing deal - basically an Audi Premier Purchase Plan - they make the most money on that. I told them that I was NOT intertested (MANY, MANY times!!!) and told them I wanted a traditional 60 month loan - which the business manager said he really didn't know how to process since "no one buys cars like that anymore." He ultimately screwed it up and I had to go back and re-sign paperwork - unbelievable! BS!

Then they delivered the car - without walking me through any of the features. I maybe at fault here, because by the time I got out of moron's (bus mgr) office, I had had it and I think that was evident. All I got was, "sir - please don't forget about the Audi survey - I need "excellent" scores on that." Oh, great - I am so concerned! They will "fail" on most accounts when I have an opportunity to do the survey.

I haven't gotten my car serviced at HBL - because I only have 2500 miles on it. I had to go and pick up my tags the other day and happened to stop in service to ask a few questions. Before I even got one of my questions asked, John (Audi Service Mgr) told me to plan my services 3-4 weeks out as that is his backlog. I then had my questions answered - the biggest being that they are chip friendly as long as it is a professional install with a reputable chip.

I am going to try them out on my 5K service just because I get a free loaner from them for buying my car from them. They have one chance at my service based on my sales experience. Sorry my post is so long - I feel obligated to let people know about my experience as well as let them know that HBL is "chip-friendly."

What kind of deal did you get from HBL? If you don't mind me asking and/or feeling like sharing.

Default $1500 over...

Wasn't really in a position to negotiate as I needed a car right away and 2000s were scarce - especially Santorians and Silver (which I got). Then when it was time to sign, they sprung the $200 processing fee on me - I then started to cause a scene in a very large occuppied showroom. I ended up paying about $50 of that charge just to get the hell out of the dealership - just rounded the whole deal to $28K.

I would recommend NO ONE to HBL on the purchase of a new car. I let you know what my service experience is in about 5 weeks.

One dealership, but more importantly salesman that I would recommend, is Frank Greenstein at Len Stohler in Pikesville, MD - depending on if you mind driving to the Baltimore area. Real good guy - very honest and knowledgeable. I think he was in the $1350 - $1450 over range. Frank only had a white 1.8T which wasn't acceptable to me. May want to give him a call. Just so happens that his old partner is now at HBL - didn't deal with this person. Just thought it was interesting...

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Mike
