Default Help!! Alarm is smarter than me (kinda long)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A few days ago my key fob quit working properly (can still activate alarm and lock doors, but can not unlock/deactivate). At first this was no big deal, just use the key to unlock the door. Then after doing this a while I noticed that not all doors were being unlocked when I did this and the driver door would lock if I did not open it IMMEDIATELY after unlocking. Then this morning the alarm went off when I tried to start the car. I disconnected the battery as to not wake up all the neighbors. Reconnected battery and the car started and ran fine. After entering radio code and resetting date/time the alarm sounded again when I went to restart the car. Repeated steps above and now am worried about starting car again. Vehicle is 2000 A4 1.8L. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Josh

Default take the battery out of the remote....

there is the possibility the remote is stuck on lock.

Default Re: take the battery out of the remote....

Removed battery from remote (previous owner had soldered/superglued it shut, thanks pal) and door is still relocking itself.

Default The plot thickens

So I'm still playing with this and I just realized that all doors and the gas flap unlock and stay unlocked if I use the key in the trunk lock. If I use the driver door lock only the driver door unlocks and then only for a split second. Troto I think it was moisture as I allow my one year old daughter to play with my keys, and who knows where they have been.

Default I was thinking that it was the central locking pump located in the trunk but

who knows.
Mine got wet due to heavy storms and a leaking trunk. It pretty much made the car undrivable. Maybe yours is just a sensor. It could also be the key, the codeing for your CLP, or the Central locking pump itself (I hope not, they are expensive)

Default

I tend to believe it is likely the driver door lock or a shorting FOB.

Default yeah, when mine went bad, locks would lock on their own, interior lights and

alarm would go on while I was driving, windows rolled down for no reason and key / remote had no effect... among other things.

Default Thanks for all the suggestions

Would like to thank you all for your suggestions and theories. I'm not saying that the problem is completely solved, but everything seems to be working fine now. My suspicion lies with either moisture or a shorting fob. We'll see if it lasts.
