Help! Can a blown bypass valve cause a check engine light?

Default Help! Can a blown bypass valve cause a check engine light?
I've had a fluttering noise under boost recently and just received a new 710N valve - but before I"ve had the chance to install it, my check engine light went on yesterday. The car does not appear to be in limp mode as there still is quasi-normal acceleration... could it be something else?
If it is the valve will it go away once i've installed the new one?

it can in some situations. Just replace and have a friend pull the code with a vag-com

Default for sure it can, My light was on for months, now its off,,
I thought it was an O2 sensor from my aftermarket Cat system but it was for sure the BPV. (99.5 1.8 TSQ)

Yes, the air injection system goes wacko. No biggie though, just replace and reset.

How to reset without a vag tool? is it possible?
