Help !!!Check engine light just went on!

98.5 a4 with 54k miles. I called the dealer and they said that it's ok as long as it doesn't start flashing anyone else have any experience with this.

looking at the codes would be the best thing to do... get it scanned by the dealership or someone with a vag com.

mine went on a couple of weeks ago, then it went off after a couple of days... after I got gas.
talked to the dealer, and said that my gas cap probably wasnt tight. which he was probably right since it went off after I got gas.

- Dipstick not all the way in
- Fuel cap not closed all the way -- make sure the cap clicks a few times when you close it
- Adding fuel with the engine running
- Letting the fuel tank run bone-dry or close to it
Yes, dealer is right. If it's flashing, avoid driving and take it in!
