Hi guys,
I need to replace the coilpack for my 2001 audi A4 1.8T. I did research from this forum, but still a little bit nervous. I would appreciate if someone can give me advice on how to do it, it would be great if there are pictures.
and another stupid question is that I don't the exact number of the cylinder, can you help me figure out? Thanks A lot

Do you have the coilpack yet? I've got some new ones here that never got installed but my son has the car now ('01 A4 1.8t) and I figure he will sell the car before he needs any more coilpacks so I am going to sell them off to those in need. Replacing them is a easy task and if it is only one that is bad you normally would want to run a scan on the care to see which cylinder is misfiring. If you don't have Ross-Tech or the likes most of the large parts stores will scan it for free.

Coilpacks are a sinch on the 1.8T's.
To figure out which coil pack, unplug each one, one at a time. You'll know if it is not the right one if the idle drops or engine shaking increases or engine stalls, then that coil pack is fine. You WON'T notice any change in idle or shaking of the engine then that is the one that is bad.
Or if you have a spark tester, pull the each coil out and check one by one for spark.
To remove coilpack it is easy if you have a little flathead and a large flat head. The little flathead screw driver will help with the removal of the connector and use the large flathead to pry the coilpack out of the spark plug hole. They are just pressed in the hole, shouldn't be any screws since this is the newer 1.8T's.

Coilpacks are a cinch.
Here's a photo from a different car, but the idea is the same.
Unclip the connector by pushing on the green arrow.
OR. Slip a small paperclip or awl under the tab where the red arrow is. Gently wiggle the connector off. Then the coilpack simply pulls up. No tools, nothing, it's just friction holding it down.
