Help?! The empty space surrounding an aftermarket HU

Does anyone have good suggestions for facings to cover up the "dead space" left between an aftermarket head unit and the console around it? Audio install places usually provide a cheesy plastic piece that covers this portion.... your suggestions are welcome.. no matter how wacky-
Thanks!
Thanks!

I had a full system installed by a shop, and they made a basic face to go around the single DIN head unit, much like you are describing. But it looked so tacky I pulled it out and put the factory head back in for now, just because it looks so much nicer. Here are some things I'm considering:
1) Make a basic faceplat that has a double DIN slot. That way I can just put a single DIN pocket under the single DIN headunit for now, until I later get another single DIN unit to replace the pocket. (like a pop-out NAV monitor or something)
2) Make a basic faceplate with the headunit at the bottom, and install 3 gauges along the top half. I've seen this done on a couple cars, and it is very cool. Lots of work, though. Not only making the faceplate, but wiring the gauges.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
3) Just stick with the factory Symphony headunit. It does look really nice, afterall.
