Default Help....Fan bearing is out. How do I get it out?

Is there some sort of mini press that I can buy to press it out? I did a search already and nobody really said if it can be pressed out by yourself. I thought that it was my alternator in the beginning when i was taking everything apart. then I noticed my fan moved funny when I bumped it with my hand, sure enough it was the bearing that was making all the grinding noise. So I got everything off the car, fan + clutch, and C clip holding the bearing in.....is my only out to take the entire housing off and bringing it to a press shop?

Default bearing?

its on a viscous coupling.... replace the viscous coupling and you ought to be good.

Default The pulley has a bearing.. The VC mounts to the pulley...

Replace the acutal fan pulley, you should be all set.

You will probably be better off just getting a new pulley assembly.

Is it the fan clutch or the pulley?

Default I took mine out with a big socket and some threaded rod

First you'll need to remove the radiator (obviously all the other front end stuff has to come off too). Then use a large socket (I think I used a 2 5/8) as shown in the picture. I had to get some fairly strong threaded rod because I couldn't find a grade 8.8 bolt that was long enough. A nice fine thread would be good too. Then just lock two nuts together on the back side to hold it tight. As you turn the nut on the front it will pull the bearing out. You could do the reverse to get it back in.

I came up with this after seeing a picture of the special tool used by the dealer.

If you'd like I will send you the bearing I pulled out. I removed it a couple years ago because I was installing an EFK. It's been rolling around my tool box this whole time. I also have the fan and clutch.

Good idea - now where can I buy the bearing besides the dealer?
