Default help: got my key wet

jumped in the lake and forgot my key in pocket and obviously it's not working anymore. Do you guys know if it'll work again when it dries up, or do I just have to get a new one, or maybe just new battery? TIA.

Default think about it.

let's say you throw you cd player into the lake, do you think that replacing the batteries will make it work? nope...
get it replaced.

Default maybe....

DO NOT TRY PUSHING THE BUTTONS! if you do, the water will cause shorts and the key is done for. If you don't, there is a chance it will still survive.

Take it apart and wash it with rubbing alcohol to remove dirt and mineral deposits.

Default i dried it off within a minute or so. best of luck.

took it apart and set it in the sun, after dabbing it down with my shirt.

Default KEYS ARE SEALED!!!

i'm so ocd about my car that i took my key apart to clean it, and found that the battery compartment has a rubber seal. i've dropped it in water too--zero problem. just dont use the remote buttons for a day to make 100% sure nothing shorts out. quick, easy, and done.
