jumped in the lake and forgot my key in pocket and obviously it's not working anymore. Do you guys know if it'll work again when it dries up, or do I just have to get a new one, or maybe just new battery? TIA.

DO NOT TRY PUSHING THE BUTTONS! if you do, the water will cause shorts and the key is done for. If you don't, there is a chance it will still survive.
Take it apart and wash it with rubbing alcohol to remove dirt and mineral deposits.

i'm so ocd about my car that i took my key apart to clean it, and found that the battery compartment has a rubber seal. i've dropped it in water too--zero problem. just dont use the remote buttons for a day to make 100% sure nothing shorts out. quick, easy, and done.
