Help. How do I remove the ashtray

Basically you take the radio out first, then you can <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/598002.phtml">take the HVAC controls out</a>, then you'll see two 8mm bolts that hold the ashtray unit in.

Note: When you finally get to the point where you have removed the two bolts for the ashtray, you'll need to lift up the horizontal plastic piece that surrounds the shifter so you can slide the ashtray unit out. For this, just grab the rear lip where the leather shifter boot meets the plastic and lift straight up. You can then slide the plastic panel straight back. Make sure not to lose the two metal clips that hold the plastic panel on at the front.

Some more tips: When you slide the HVAC unit to out, you'll see all the electrical connections at the back. The two green connectors just pull out...no clips holding them in place. The other connectors have small plastic "push tabs" at the top...push them down and slide the connectors out. No need to remember which connector plugs in where since each one will only fit in one place. Don't forget to unplug the wire leading to the ashtray; it powers the light.

I removed mine to do some fine tuning of my <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/audio/msgs/11573.phtml">MiniDisc player installation</a> last week.
