Yesterday, my car died in the middle of the freeway. No throttle reponse. Today I had my giac chip taken out and put my stock back on. Still won't start. It cranks but won't start. The only thing is that the service light is on but that shouldn't stop the car from starting and dying in the middle of the freeway. Any ideas people>

If the socket side went a-miss, than even the stock chip may not plug in correctly. Car should crank all day without the entire ECU plugged in, sounds like the car doesent see the ECU. check the connector(s) to the ECU as well. If you have a spare ECU, and it still does this, you need to lay the blame elsewhere as its most likely nothing to do with the ECU. Did you buy crappy gas?? Misfired all 4 cylinders and fouled the plugs??

have someone with a VAG see if they can get to the "engine" module of the software. If they can't, it's either the ECU, or more likely the socket. Also have them try and go to other modules (cent. locks or something). If something else responds, it's your ECU or socket for sure. I had this same problem just last week. Where did you have the chip installed? Deal with them on this. DO NOT DEAL WITH THE DEALER!!!

Since the ECU is chipped, the dealer could make quite a stink. Once you rule that out, THEN drop it off at the dealer.

are you sure that none of the charge pressure hoses blew off?you said the car stopped on the highway, any pop noises before it stopped?you note no throttle response.i'm assuming the car right now starts and dies.if i'm wrong in the assumption,i need more info.for the time being, check all charge pressure hoses, make sure hose from airflow meter to turbo compressor housing is on.to help further, need more info--dpd
