Amsoil has engine flush fluid, you can check their website.

So now what do I do? Use engine flush? Switch back to conventional oil?

Default Try an engine flush, follow the instructions to the letter..

I have never used one, but in this case, it may be a good thing to do.. I have never switched from dino to synth (I am not a synth user at all) but I have heard that a good flush is not a bad idea when switching.. especially on a car with questionable history like this one.

Should I try letting the dealer diagnose and shoot for goodwill first?

I would try that first.

Default I really really really really really don't like the tip.

Does the tip chip really make that big of a difference or is it just a slightly noticable improvement?
