Default Help! My information screen tells me that my driver's door is still open and keeps dinging..........

I have to practically slam the door a few times to get it to stop. I haven't had time to drive it when it does this, nor do I want to try driving down the road with my door open, to see if the door is not really shutting all the way. I'm trusting my car that my door is not closing fully. No, there is nothing in the way! What parts in the door might cause this to happen and what should I do? Any input is needed as I do not want to pay someone at a repair shop to charge me up the a$$ just to tell me what the problem is. Thanks.

Default obviously its the door sensor. typically its a plunger like switch on the door jam.

i dont know why slamming the door would a viable solution to the problem...maybe its me.

Its actually built into the door latch inside of the door itself.

Same problem, MY2000! Gradually getting worse, and slamming doesn't always solve it.

Default I had this happen

on the 2000's the switch is connected to the door latch. To access the door latch you need to take off the inner door panel, and remove the window track assembly.

Being the lazy guy I am, I tried to spray contact cleaner into the area of the switch with the straw attachment, hoping that this would fix it.

It kinda did temporarily, then it got worse, but one day it completely went away. It hasn't come back for over a year and a half now.

If I had to do it again, I would probably just remove the window track and replace the switch. I had to remove it to fix my window and it's not that hard to do.
