Help Please.. Do I have Transmission problems.
I just bought a 97 audi a4 avant quattro, and im not sure if its the transmission? its shifts smooth and it goes thru all the gears fine... but if im on the highway and i step on the pedal to give it more gas, it downshifts but it kinda jumps.....

I doubt that anybody can tell how your transmission is working from that description. I suggest that you find somebody with an Audi automatic who can drive it and tell you if the car is behaving normally or not.

What you described sounds like a normal kickdown. You're cruising along, you suddenly step on the pedal, there is a slight delay as the tranny downshifts, and then the car suddenly shoots forward. Depending on the speed you were moving at before the kickdown, it can be quite a jump. I do it all the time to overtake on the highway. Its my absolute favourite manuever. 2000 A4 Quattro 5A.
