I took my car 98 1.8T A4 90K miles to the mechanic because the engine light came on and the car was turning off at red lights but it would turn on right away and it would also hesitate in power, like a little choke once in a while while driving. The mechanic told me the computer read bad O2's and MAF all at the same time... so if I wanted to replace the 2 sensors and MAF. Since I didn't feel to trusty of him because the car was running fine until I took him there for a broken serpentine belt and they left it screeching and I had to go back for that, I told him just clear the light and I'll pick up the car. Well, the engine light is back again and the car is still hesitating and when I park the RPM's drop and the car turns off. So taking it to a different shop now but want your opinion please on possible things, I know O2 sensors are not cheap either to buy and install and I've heard about cleaning the MAF. Are those sypmtoms for both things going bad?

here. It's easy to say O2 sensors are bad and the MAF is bad. I can be a bad spark plug that cost $1.90 but they'll never tell you that.
