I have a 2000 A4 and the remote died about 6-7 month ago. Just put in the replacement battary but nothing is happening after I followed the FAQ.

1) just want to confirm the battary is put in there correctly. The + faces the bottom, right?

2) I follwed the FAQ section, with one key in ignition and one click forward. locked the car with the second key and then I tried two different ways (both are from FAQ). a, pressed unlock button twice (since the other remote died too) b, press and held the unlock button for 10 seconds. but lights didn't flash and nothing is happening.

Does anyone have any idea why is this happening?

thanks for the info... but when i pressed the unlock button, no flash or beep at all, why?

Well both of my remotes died thanks to the wife impatiently trying to access the trunk with engine running and the trunk valet locked. So........after much swearing the fix is like tgjl says. If both remotes have died you will need to use the one flash for 1st remote and two flashes for the 2nd remote otherwise you end up just en-coding one remote and erasing the other. It just flip flopped working not working one and the other. I hope this helps.
