Anyone know how long to let the touch up paint dry before applying a second coat or the clearcoat. No where on the package or the bottles does it mention a thing. Also, how about using some mild abrasive rubbing compound right over the chip to smooth out the first coat? Any other ideas or hints would be appriciated.

The toothpick technique (described in the carcareonline article) is much more painstaking, but the results are much better than just blobbing the paint on with the brush that comes with the touch-up paint. As for smoothing out the blob, there's Langka (langka.com), which I have used. It works as advertised, altho the paint should be allowed to dry for longer than they recommend. Someone here once said that hand glaze applied the same way as Langka yields the same results. I've never tried that, but it would be worth a try if you haven't spent $ on Langka yet.

Btw, you aren't gonna get a perfect match with that silver paint. The touch-up is gonna look darker no matter what you do. Something about how the metal flakes line up when you blob it on, compared to spraying it on. But if your chips are small, it should look ok.
