Default Help! Trying to Install a panasonic DP88 CD changer in my 2000 A4 avant

I know this topic has been covered before, but I amreally struggling to get an answer.
I recently bought a Panasonic DP88 8 CD changer from an ebay retailer, saying it was plug and play into the concert stereo system with the interface connection that was included. I have tried to install it as suggested. I am getting power to the changer but nothing happens when I press 'Mode'. The retailer insists the units work fine in audis but I am aware that previous forums have stated you need a PIE interface box, not just the cable interface. Is there a way of bypassing the stereo system so I don't have to buy the PIE interface? Is the problem because I have the driver information system? If so is there a way of by-passing this also? Is there a way I can check that my 13pin connector in the car is working? The retailer will accept the unit back but then I am faced with the decision of which unit to buy. I have spent hours surfing to come up with the answer.....Please help!

Default you need the interface

Even though the Panasonic one has a 13 pin connector, you still need the interface. Same thing happened when I installed the Panasonic 6 disc changer. It would power up but the radio wouldn't recognize it.

I think the interface activates some of the pins or something.

Default my 6 cd panasonic changer needed a simple adapter cable. it switches two pins...

so the radio recognises it. also, you may need to vag-com recode your radio to recognize the cd changer.

Default It should work with just the correct interface cable

I bought a Panasonic DP9060 for use with Concert and purchased the right adapter to plug into the 13 pin Bus cable and it worked first time. Panasonic is the make of the OEM unit so the BUS is exactly the same, just a different connector, so no additional electronics are needed.
Does it load CD's?
Are you using pressed CD's or CD-R's?
Have you got the CD's up the right way? (stupid question I know, but it has been known).

Default You need an adapter from PIE and BlizSafe, no exceptions.

It's not pluggin capable out of the box.

There are two types of connectors. One that uses DMX one that doesn't. The ones that use DMX will allow you to access the 7th and 8th disc from the head unit.

The ones that don't use DMX won't allow you to directly access the 7th and 8th disc. You will need to finish the 6th disc and let it continue onto the 7th and 8th respectively.

Trying with original pressed factory CDs to start with...
I think I have the CDs the right way up! It does appear to be loading CDs, but the Head unit is not recognising them. Nothing happens when you press 'mode'

Thanks.
I was beginning to get that feeling.
Do you think its worth me getting the adapter or should I send it back to the retailer and get a refund? I live in the UK and the adapters are very expensive here (as are most things!)

Default When you plug it in do you hit the CDC button on the concert

stereo? If its getting power then I would think it should work without any problems. I have a 00avant but the cd changer I got was the one audi sold with the car, bought it off someone in the classifieds a while back.
