Default hey fellas im trying to relocate the antenna to increase my remote distance...

but with all the wires that are under the seat in the back of my car I can't figure out which is the antenna...does anybody know what color it is? Pictures would be great....I found this in the tech section....Increasing the Remote Unlocking Range Phil Becker 2003

Also has anybody done this? Notice a difference?

Default IIRC the remote locking antenna is located on the side of the trunk

There was a service bulletin regarding increasing its range. It talked about routing it out of the trunk and under the rear bumper area.

Default yes I wrote that..... but only 96/97 have it under the rear seat

later years have it in the trunk someplace

96 had the worst remote range of all till I modified the antenna's location... now it gives me a good 50 -100 feet.... before I was lucky to get 5-10 feet.

Default what's the best/easiest way to remove the rear seat?

I have the box under my seat, and would like to do this today.

Default yo quattrofrog, you just ran the wire up the rear seats? anymore specific?

I am trying to understand how you ran the wire because I have custom leather and don't have exposed pading. I assume you pointed the end of the wire towards the gas cap, did you secure it with tape?

Default Re: gotcha, where should I run this wire to exactly? under the carpet covering my spare?

I just did this last weekend. The unit is located in some dark gray/black padding in the back right corner of the trunk. Just remove the carpeting from that side. Then pull the unit out (black plastic - follow the instructions). Look for a brown wire (just one strand as opposed to all the others that have two). I just spliced a longer wire onto that and routed it out through a rubber gromet in the back of the trunk (unscrew and pull off that plastic liner that surrounds the locking mechanism - you'll see it). Then I just zip tied the wire under the rear bumper. Voila, better range.
