Hey guys.... update on burnt stgIII CM clutch...
I appreciate the responses from my prior post. Although, I cannot seem to decide what to do as of yet.
Pulled out the clutch and one side of the plate was burnt to a crisp. Tech says it looks like I was "riding" my clutch, but I tend to disagree. My original clutch saw 80K w/out problems, and no, I don't think I launched this car more than twice in the 10K or so that I put on this clutch. I think it looks like I rode it because of how many major slips I got at WOT. I'm done with Clutch Masters and kevlar at this point.
I need to decide on a new clutch... Southbend is what I am leaning towards as most of you have had great results. An up and coming company has offered me a deal on a Competition Clutch for ~$600 (stg2 rated for 400hpAWD), but I think I am leaning towards the Stg3 or 4 DXD... which of these would be recommended for longer life and possible future turbo upgrades (no more than gt28)
Gotta decide today... let me know what your thoughts are... Thanks in advance.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2679972.phtml</a

I have a stg III dxd from southbend............
as careful as i was to install, check the flywheel and breakin i still got a slight chatter from it. i just live with it, although i should check to see if any of my mounts are shot cause i get alot of movement in my shifter on accel and deceleration and i have a driveline stabilzer.

Most likely the pressure plate wasn't cut correctly
causing less then 100% pressure on the disk with the pressure plate and flywheel. Most of the people that have tried the CM setup have had slipping issues.

It will be hard to get them to cover it under warranty seeing that you have 10k+ miles on it.
Warranty ususally covers the first 1000 miles which is the amount of time a defect would show up.

I didn't "get on it" until about after 2500miles...
so would not have even known until then. I drove the car a lot in the first 3 months, that explains the mileage. When I spoke to them I told them this, and they said it should have lasted way longer than this... so I wonder if they can come through with some good customer service considering the situation. I used their products on a Mustang and have no regrets...
