Default Hi, is it extremely difficult to convert 99.5 headlights to Xenon? Because..

I ask the dealer in Vancouver BC, (service and parts) about ordering the kits and converting myself. They said it will cost me roughly $5000 to do it, since I have projector light on 99.5. And I cannot do it myself. Is that right? Can Xenon upgrade be DIY if I have the components? Looking forward to any reply. Thanks.

Uhhh,

I bought the LLtek Xenon kit for my '97 A4 for $1600 US.

I put them in myself.

$5000 CDN, sounds like typical dealer dumbness.

LLtek

Default way too much (more)

Have you considered after market?
You can try www.pgperformance.com, they are in Surrey -- just a suggestion.

Default Is the job difficult? Is the job done in the engine compartment or you need to get into the car?

I have both the ECU and Tip EROM from Garrett. (I think that's what he calls the ECUs = EROM). The performance is great. It won't be dramitically different like on the 1.8T, but the perofrmance gain on 2.8 is still noticeable. The tip responses much faster than stock. And the high end power has noticeable gain. I feel like the car just keep on accelerating like there's no limit! (just my thought) Anyway, I love the chips.

Default Aftermarket is your best solution..

You can easily purchase a HID kit that many on the net are selling now.. The 99.5 headlight assembly uses a H-7 bulb and is the easiest to convert to a D2S HID capsule.. I have done one for an A4 and also a Mercedes ML.. Light pattern is also correct due to the same placement of the light output from the H-7 bulb and the HID capsule..

Default Xenon...maybe you should call these guys...

www.greedspeed.com I've done business with them on and off for a little while now...they run a clean operation.

Anyhow they sell a Xenon kit which is entirely plug and play...I think this is the best option for you. I would guess they'll charge around $1400 USD for the kit.
