Default hit a huge pothole last night going about 40 mph... still reached destination (bowling)

but when i came out i got a flat... is it the rim? can the pothole caused just a flat? i have 16 inch swing wheels with pretty new continentals mounted on them, i would think the swing wheels are much more stronger than that to be bending just over a pothole but then again its possible, the pothole at my speed can defintely bend a rim. going to get it fixed after lunch but would like to hear some opinions first. TIA.

Default could be either or boht!...

generally you can pinch a tire side wall and cause a flat but the rim will probibly have some damage.

Default Swings are pretty soft...

You most likely bent the rim. The only question is "is the tire still good?".

Default Rather than speculation...

jack up the car, and look at the tire. If there is a hole in it...you're done. Even then...you'll need to pressurize the tire and look for bubbles in the sidewall. Based on what you're saying, the leak is kinda slow, so the shop should be able to check out the tire before removing it from the rim.
