the wheel is 45 mm toward the outside of the wheel. This means when mounted the centerline of the wheel/tire will be 45mm toward the inside of the hub. When you decrease the offset to 37 mm you are moving the inside of the mounting surface 8 mm back toward the center .. the effect of this is to move the wheel/tire centerline outward by that 8mm. Any change in size from 7 to 8 inch on the wheel width will be impacted by a change in ET. So . .assume the same 8mm decrease in offset with an increase of 1 inch on the wheel width .. the offset moves the wheel outward by 8mm but the increase of 1/2 the wheel width change 12.7 mm, effectively moves the inside edge of the wider wheel 12.7 mm toward the inside. Net effect of that would be to move the center of the tire 8mm outward but the inside edge of the wheel would be 4.7 mm closer to the suspension parts. Make any sense?

applications but 37 is only like 5/64ths " difference. I am running ET 35's as are most folks here I think. I don't know what the RS4 styles are... sorry.
