Default Hmm... cracked intercooler core?

Okay, last weekend I got my bad K04 replaced at DSR. That definitely fixed my problems! I was getting crazy surging and general weirdness after the first K04 was installed, along with occasional limp modes with a "negative deviation" error code. Anyway, the new K04 works like a champ. Smooth, hard power all the way up through the revs. Much more driveable and modulable. I'm very relieved to have corrected the whole K04 issue!

But, I'm still getting the occasional (although slightly less often) limp mode with the negative deviation error code. This means there is still a pressure leak somewhere. While at DSR, we were snooping around the engine bay looking at all the hoses which contain boost. We noticed that right behind the driver's side headlight, the wires and such were coated with a fine misting of oil. Dick at DSR said this could possibly be where the boost leak is happening, because turbocharged cars can sometimes have a small bit of oil in the pressurized intake air. (I thought that only happened if the turbo seals were bad, thus allowing oil to get through.) But anyway, these wires and such are right above the intercooler, which is about the only thing in that area which could possibly be squirting anything even remotely oil-like, right?

So what do you all think? Cracked intercooler? Bad hose connection? Bad hose? Anyone wanna come over and take a look for yourself?

I doubt I can get any warranty service on it, so I'm on my own on this one. Heck, if the intercooler is bad, that's a good reason to go for an FMIC.

Default I would check the hoses..

Thats something that you can do on your own... As for the core, i dunno.. im sure that you test it for leaks? You could get those Samco Hoses as well.. Why didnt you come back to DSR on Sat?

Keep it real,

Default Cuz I'm a lazy bastard and didn't even wake up until noon. :)

By the time I got my rear moving and out of the shower it was 1, and by the time me and Rob made our way up to DSR it was 2, and raining. We ended up meeting Josh and Anthony and some folks at a Chinese food place down the road. One of the guys had a new 2001 BMW M Couple. <insert big stupid Homer drool here>

I'm bummed I didn't make it to DSR earlier! You'll have to check out my K04 now that it works. It's really something now that it works.
