Default Hmm... Paint Code Debate: Volcano or Brilliant?

So, after finding that my trunk options sticker is totally dark and molded, I am concerned about which color my 1999 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro sedan is.

It's either Brilliant Black or Volcano Black Mica.

To me, it seems like a really dark grey. This car was originally purchased in Canada, and I once asked the American dealer where I got it serviced "hey, anything special about this car?" "Nope."

So, it seems that Volcano Black is used for higher end models like the S4 and the plebe black is Brilliant Black.

So, my bet is to the Brilliant Black, but can someone tell me "yo, quit wiggin, it's BB."

I don't have the owner's manual, the previous owner accidently kept it.

Any possibility someone out there can do a VIN decode on the car and get it?

I have a detailing appointment on Monday and will be including some touch up paint for the car...

Default First, look in the drivers door jam on the sticker....

or in the spare tire well for the sticker that has the code. You will notice one of two codes that will designate the color.

LY9B-Brilliant Black
LZ9U-Volcano Black

Default Re: Brilliant Black is definitely black...

Yeah, mine is Volcano Black. Your car looks extremely close to what mine looks like.

I ended up getting a flashlight and looking back at the rotting moldy options picture, and sho-nuff, that was the right one.

Too bad there isn't a straightforward Duplicolor listing... Seems as though it's just the dealership and paintscratch.com. Any other suggestions?

I'm in the Portland, OR area but I'm willing to travel 50 miles tomorrow as I am scheduled for a detailing on Monday. (The detailer will be applying the paint)

Thanks to everyone that responded!
